2018 so far

Wow, I have not posted in almost a month!  Sorry about that.  2018 has been so busy so far!  My new job is definitely keeping me busy, but I'm really loving it.  The people are great, the work is great, the work environment is great, the hours are SO much better... It's awesome!  Right now I have to go into the office every day, but once my 3-month training period is over (at the end of February), I'll be able to work from home one or two days per week!  That will be so great.  I've slowly but surely been bringing things into my office to spruce up my cubicle and make it a little less grey and boring (we all have private cubicles). I've brought  a few posters and a few figurines/knick-knacks, and I'm going to bring in some pictures and maybe a plant! There are NO windows anywhere in our office (that part is weird...), but I think I found a few plant options that don't need real sunlight.
My California mug that my parents got me last year for Christmas!  I thought it would be perfect for work :)  Everyone will know it's mine, and I'll get to sport some Cali pride!

My posters so far!

That's the only picture I've brought in so far (Guinness!), but I definitely want to bring in more. And then I have a bobblehead baby Groot, and I have a Ludo (from Labyrinth).  On the other side of my desk I also have a Carl from the movie Up, and I have a Hopper (from Stranger Things).  That's it so far!  I'll take pictures of those soon, especially as I bring in more stuff!  I don't want to bring too much in at once or I'll look crazy ;)

Everything is going pretty well here!  The weather has been NUTS... It's been as low as -3 and as high as 65 degrees this month... so... that is just NOT normal or ok.  We've also had a LOT of snow already this year, plus a day of icy rain.  It's been nutty, that's for sure.  I took a picture a few weeks ago when it was 65 degrees right after we'd had a bunch of snow earlier in the week, and it was SO weird because all of the snow was evaporating and turning into this really crazy fog/mist everywhere!
I don't know how well you can see the fog/mist, but it was 65 degrees when I took this picture, and you can still see some of the snow that hadn't yet melted or evaporated.  It had just been 17 degrees the day before! NOT normal.

I don't want to get political in this post because I try to understand and respect that everyone has different opinions and beliefs, but I will say that I'm really sad about the National Parks right now.  The federal government shutdown is happening as everyone knows, which means that the National Parks SHOULD be shutdown right now too... But the current administration has decided to keep them open during the federal shutdown, which means people will be going to the National Parks for free, and just totally trashing everything.  Most of the bathrooms are going to be closed, which means people will be going to the bathroom wherever they want... The garbages won't be emptied, which means people are going to be throwing their trash everywhere... And just nobody will be there to monitor anything or to try to keep the people, land, and animals safe and cared for.  Ugh.  It's depressing.  I hope the National Parks are going to be ok, and I hope the people and animals are all safe during this time.

Anyways, back to fun stuff.  Guinness has been doing GREAT, and he's been loving the snow we've been getting.  We've had LOTS of frisbee time out in the snow!!  When it was super cold a few weeks ago we couldn't stay out with him for long at all though, because his little paws would get too cold!  He'd start limping after a few minutes so we knew it was time to head inside and get those paws warmed up.

Here's my Christmas cactus that Kevin got for me a few years ago!!  It started blooming right at Christmastime, and kept blooming for almost a month!

This weekend it has been really warm (for January), and it's been in the 50s.  So yesterday we went for a bit of a hike and Guinness was loving it!

I hope you're all doing really well, and enjoying 2018 so far!!  I will try to be better about posting.  Today Kevin and I are just chilling and doing a bit of housework, and OF COURSE watching the Eagles game later!!!  Go Eagles!!  I really hope they win and go to the Super Bowl!!
