Easter weekend, and some house progress!

Hey guys! Wow, this week has seemed looooooong. But Happy Friday! We made it!  This week I had to go to Frederick, MD for work (about 3 hours away), and I just got back last night. I am SO tired. I wish I could take today off work, but nope! I will be so ready for the weekend by the time today is over though.  OH, and this evening I have an eye appt too... Ugh.  I'm SO not in the mood for an appt of any kind, but oh well... It'll be good to get it over with. I'm hoping that my prescription hasn't changed TOOOO much, so then my glasses will be ok to keep and I can hopefully get some prescription sunglasses for the first time ever!  Fingers crossed.

I have some pictures from last weekend of the finished painting in our office room! The paint looks GOOD now, thank goodness.  I'm so glad the streakiness is gone. It's hard to get a good photo of the paint color, but it's a pretty color!
It's really hard to see the color in this pic... Dang window glare...

But this is a lot better!  This is fairly accurate I think... It's a pretty greenish-blueish-grayish color.

And last weekend was Easter (this week has been LONG, oh my gosh....), so we started out the day by going to the dog park, and then later in the day we went over to Kevin's parents' house and had dinner and spent a lot of time hanging in their backyard because the weather was so nice!  And of course they'd said to bring over Guinness, so he had a lot of fun in their backyard.  We'd brought a few tennis balls and this plastic thing that helps us to throw the tennis ball really far when we're at the dog park. OH, and we also did some gardening last weekend!  Here's just a ton of photos from last weekend:
Guinness loves the dog park!

I call this one "ballet pup" because of his fancy footwork.

Happy boy!

He looks a lil' cross-eyed because I'm holding a tennis ball and he's SUPER focused on it.

Here's out front walkway after I planted some flowers! Marigolds are VERY resistant to deer, so I'm sticking with them this year. Last year the deer devoured my impatiens flowers.

This is a shrub that we planted on our side yard! We're hoping they're going to get a little bigger... They're also VERY deer resistant, but I forget what they're called... I think it started with an "H".  It said "DEER RESISTANT" on the tag though! :)

Here's a close-up of the shrub. I thought they were so pretty!

Guinness on Easter getting to play some fetch in my in-laws' backyard! And that's my mother-in-law right there!  She adores Guinness.

Here Kevin is giving his mom some pointers on how to throw with that plastic launcher arm. It's a little tricky at first.

I hope you've all had a GREAT week, and Happy Friday!!  Have an amazing weekend!!

St. Michaels Trip, a Rough Week, and House Progress

We had a great time in St. Michaels! That town is seriously the cutest, and we had so much fun wandering around. It's only about a 2.5 hour drive from where we live, so that wasn't bad at all. We left Saturday morning and started out our roadtrip in the best way: by stopping at Dunkin Donuts for some much needed coffee and bagels. Our 2.5 hour drive was quite lovely thanks to our coffees, and we stopped at the house where we met first, because it was right before you get into the town of St. Michaels. The drive down the small street that the house was on was kinda creepy, because there were definitely lots of signs saying "Private Road", etc.... but I was too excited to see the house to care too much. When we arrived at the house, we were sad to see that they've painted it!  It was a nice happy yellow color before, but now it's a dreary grey. I'm sure on any other house I would like the grey color, but it just doesn't fit for this house (It's right on the water! So beautiful). They were also doing a ton of construction on the house, and it looked like they were gutting it. Such a bummer...
There's the house... They also had a ton of construction going on, and a trailer out front.

There's a better view of the house! It's a nice grey, really... But to me that house should always be yellow :)  And Kevin did NOT want his picture in front of the house because he was quite ready to leave! It did feel kinda shady to be on that quiet dirt "Private Road"...

After briefly stopping by the house (we were there maybe 2 minutes), we continued on our way to St. Michaels and got to our beautiful hotel. We got all checked in there and then walked around town! We started off at the Eastern Shore Brewery for a few beers, and then we wandered over to the Sea Glass Festival, because apparently that's a thing! We had no idea that was going on while we would be there, but there were signs everywhere for it so we figured it was worth a visit. It was an adorable little festival, and it was fun to wander around. The whole day was spent wandering around the cute little town, with stops to eat or drink at various restaurants whenever we were thirsty or hungry. We had fresh oysters at two different places (I looooove fresh oysters, but I don't like other seafood... I'm sure it does NOT make sense, but it is what it is...), and we had lots of beer from Eastern Shore Brewery because that's the beer they had in every restaurant! Our night actually ended back at the brewery playing some games, because that place was DESERTED! The town shuts down at about 8pm I think. We played foosball and shuffleboard until 9pm when it closed! :)
Here's me in front of the Maryland flag!  Maryland LOOOOOVES their flag and it is always everywhere. It is a super cool flag... I loved my years of living in Maryland!

Here's Kevin in front of The Crab Claw Restaurant! We had oysters and beer here :)

Here were some ducks that joined us for lunch. I took this while we were sitting at our table.

There were pretty flowers everywhere around town! Yay Spring!

The next day we got up fairly early and went outside of our hotel to sit by the water. It was SO peaceful and relaxing and quiet! We were in heaven. After enjoying the peace and the view, we went to get some breakfast, and then we went for a bike ride! The hotel had a ton of bikes that you could just ride around whenever you wanted (for free), so that was cool. I am not confident in my biking skills, so we rode our bikes AWAY from town and went to check out some neighborhoods and a yacht club that was down the street from the hotel. It was a lovely ride, and Kevin was SO encouraging about my bike riding abilities (I was super wobbly! But I didn't fall or anything).
My handsome husband hanging out by the water in the morning!

Quite a view!

The chairs that the hotel had set up.

So, it was an AMAZING weekend. But it wasn't a great week... Our friend Juliff's father passed away, so that has been awful. Poor Juliff... We went to the viewing service on Tuesday and the funeral service on Wednesday. Kevin and I also both had really rough work weeks with some craaaaazzy long hours (I worked til 11pm one night...), so this week just sucked. It was just all-around not good.

Our weekend has been off to a good start though... This morning we woke up SUPER early (so that part wasn't great), because I had a 7:45am appointment to donate platelets, and Kevin drove me there and then picked me up a few hours later. We also got some house stuff done today, including re-painting the office, because my first try at that was a bit of a disaster! It looked horrible... It was so streaky and I have NO idea what could have happened. So today we re-painted, and I'm hoping tomorrow it will look a LOT better (fingers crossed!!). We also went to Home Depot and bought some plants for our garden! We worked on our yard a bit when we got back from Home Depot, and planted some of the plants. I'll do another post this week where I show you that (and hopefully pictures of a well-painted office?!). Oh, and I saw a (sort of) celebrity at our Home Depot! It was the host of Stone House Revival, if you've ever seen that show. I didn't say hi because he looked busy (and I couldn't place what show he was from at first...), but it was definitely him (and he does definitely live around here, so I now know he goes to my Home Depot!).  So, it's been a busy and productive day, but also really good.  Now we're relaxing and watching a movie.
There he is! He's even more handsome in person.... Haha :)

I hope you've all had a great week! Love you all! Happy Easter!!!

April is here!

April is here!!  That's gotta mean Spring is here, right??  We are definitely having Spring weather, so I'm hoping that our Winter weather is far behind us.

Yesterday was my birthday, and I gotta say:  It was a pretty darn good day :)  It's never QUITE as awesome when your birthday is on a weekday because as an adult that means you usually have to work on your birthday... but it was still pretty darn great. Kevin spoiled me rotten, as he always does, and I felt very loved all day long! We went out to dinner last night to a Mexican restaurant that I love (and I had TWO mango mojitos! Wooohoo!!), and then we came back home and watched Rogue One. And tonight we are going to see Beauty and the Beast!  We thought it might be too hectic if we tried to go see Beauty and the Beast last night AND go out to dinner after work... so the celebration was split into two evenings :)

My daffodils from Kevin!

And this weekend, we are heading to St. Michaels, MD for one night!  St. Michaels is where McGee and I first met about 7 years ago. Crazy, huh? We're excited to go there and see it, and I think we're going to sneak over to the house where we first met! Our friends' family used to own the house (and my friend Colleen brought me and some other friends there, and McGee's friend Timmy (Colleen's brother) brought him there, and that's how we met!), but they sold it years ago... so we have no idea who owns it now.  It's down this really quiet road, so hopefully it doesn't bother anyone living there that we'll be going there... but I also kinda don't care. Haha :)  We'll be staying at a hotel in St. Michaels, so I'll be sure to take lots of pictures! So far (fingers crossed...) the weather is looking pretty perfect.
This is the restaurant in St. Michaels where McGee and I went for dinner (with the whole group) the weekend we first met. I remember I strategically made sure to sit right by him because I thought he was super cute and hilarious, and I also remember being mesmerized (and a little grossed out) by his crab dismantling expertise!  I do not like shellfish (so I ordered a burger or something), but McGee loves it and is quite skilled at dissecting/dismantling them to eat them. I was amazed (and grossed out). Haha :)

Here's little St. Michaels! There are more houses, stores, etc to the left, but that's the general idea :)

Last weekend was a good yet busy one!  We did a few house projects including the HUGE project of painting the office, so now that's all done except for a few touch-ups and then putting everything back.  Our guest room and the office are both total disasters right now because of painting (and also doing the floors in the guest room), so we just need to find some time to put everything back together. I will take pictures of both rooms for you after we get them re-assembled! Here are a few "before" pictures for the office, so you can see how badly it needed to be painted!
Can you see the outlines on that wall from the pictures that the previous owners had up?

And these walls are just white. I painted them a very pretty color which you will have to wait to see!! :)

On Sunday evening we also went over to McGee's parents' house to watch the final two episodes of Breaking Bad with them!  They've been making their way through the whole series and they've been loving it, and we told them we should all get together to watch the final two episodes with them. We had a really nice dinner (Mo and Mook came over too!), and MY GOSH I forgot how amazing those last two episodes are (we saw them years ago). That is one series that ended totally perfectly in my opinion. Such a great show!

I hope you are all having a great week so far!  We're about half-way to the weekend again!!  We can do it!  Love you all!
